The surrounding houses speak to the wealth of the inhabitants, especially the elegant Maison Vachon, former residence of the consuls of Turenne in the 16C and 17C. The 17C Hôtel de Carbonnières, adorned with towers and turrets, belonged to a noble family from Xaintrie, meadow country that lies between the Dordogne and the Cère, where caramel-coloured Salers cows graze.
