The best view of this massive abbey set against a backdrop of cypresses and maritime pines is from the old village ramparts on the right bank of the Orbieu. During the French Revolution, the building was sold in two lots, which explains the current separation of the site. Most of the abbey is now occupied by the community of Canons Regular of the Mother of God, while the oldest part of the buildings is now the property of the Conseil Départemental de l'Aude.
