Water is omnipresent here, filtering through a dense network of streams and ponds inhabited by carp, and maintaining the humidity of the leafy undergrowth. Dense conifer forests, chestnut trees and heather moors create a beautiful green landscape, grazed by cattle, which inspired Jules Verne to name it "Périgord Vert" (Green Périgord).
