The old town is coiled within the harmonious circular layout of the ramparts, which were demolished in the 18C. A gate on the surrounding Boulevard Rodolphe de Turenne, the Porte Sainte Catherine, is a vestige of these city walls. The Rue Sainte Catherine leads down to the church, as do most of the narrow streets in the historical centre, which are lined with old stone and half-timbered houses. Spared from mass tourism, this picturesque area exudes calm.
