Allow 2hr out of Bukittinggi and be prepared for a long descent with 44 hairpin bends to reach the banks of the Danau Maninjau - but your efforts will be fully rewarded! This crater lake is magnificent. While smaller than Lake Toba, it is just as majestic, as you will see on the drive there. Sadly, its waters are heavily polluted due to the intensive fish farming that takes place here.
