Striking contemporary art adorns the walls inside this historical property dating back to 1863 – at 't Raedthuys, art and dining go hand in hand. The modern decor beautifully preserves the building's authentic character. A window to the kitchen allows you to see the chef and his team at work. On sunny days, the terrace at the front is the perfect spot for a romantic dinner for two. Prepare to be delighted as hostess and sommelier Karina van der Kolk introduces you to her unique collection of imported wines, which pair beautifully with the culinary creations of Hans den Engelsen. This chef is a traditionalist, who excels at classic dishes such as tournedos Rossini. He has a masterful ability to cook a leg of Dutch lamb to perfection, ensuring it is juicy and seasoned just right. However, he also has a modern edge, delighting diners with artistic plating and surprising textures. Think savoury crème brûlée or Jerusalem artichoke – as chips, as a cream, raw and pickled – with smoked eel. You should definitely sample something from the cheese trolley, which boasts around 30 cheeses. No doubt about it: the real artist is in the kitchen!
