Abrupt and untamed, Cape Inutabu looks like it is standing in defiance of the East China Sea from its 50m vantage point. From the observatory you can take in the spectacle of the sheer cliffs, the sea glinting emerald green in clear weather, as well as the line drawn by the vegetation-covered cliffs. At sunset, you can make out the silhouette on the horizon of a tall concrete tower, a monument built in homage to the sailors killed when the Americans torpedoed the Japanese battleship Yamato just off the cape in April 1945.
